Dave Durst

Humane Officer

David Durst was appointed Muskingum County Humane Officer in 2008.  He has completed the twenty hour Humane Agent Training Course that is required by the State of Ohio, and has been awarded the certificate.His primary objective is to investigate complaints of animal cruelty and neglect that are reported to him.  His duties entail evaluating these complaints and taking corrective action, including the prosecution of violators. 

His work is funded jointly by the City of Zanesville and Muskingum County. His area of service covers all of Muskingum County. He responds primarily phoned-in complaints, but he can be reached in emergency by the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office or the Zanesville Police Department. 

David is a resident of Zanesville and a graduate of Philo High School.  He acquired many years of investigative experience in animal cases while going on runs with Beulah Hague.
